While in Costa Rica I had the opportunity to go ziplining. Always wanted to try this. Spouse consulted and picked a popular spot for us. Little did I know it was at altitude, had lots of vertical hiking, and little to no water. Needless to say, I about killed my self. I did the whole course. Afterward I looked up the website and found they don’t take anybody over 65. Spouse and I left that milestone behind a while ago.
Had an experience recently where I got to travel to Costa Rica. Very interesting and unsettling. I flew into San Juan, the capital late. Hadn’t eaten all day but hustled to my hotel. The only place to get food nearby was a friggin Denny’s. OMG! To add insult to injury the food was better than three quarters of these places I’ve been to in the States! So it began. Turns out USA companies are everywhere in the CR. Walmarts, Sherwin Williams, John Deere, Ashley Furniture are just to name a few. When the GQP complaints about globalization they sure never mention American companies taking over foreign countries do they? Hypocrites all!
February doesn’t have the lowest temperatures of the year in NorCal. It never does. But the combination of wet, wind, and cold often makes it seem the coldest for the longest period.
I’m cold.
Time to go visit snow and warm up…
I don’t really know if age gives you any mental advantage but besides ossification of your thinking I think for most folks it clears away the doubt about who and what you are. It’s okay to be who you are…
Breakfast Well, the spouse and I love to have breakfast out. Well, maybe not her so much but she doesnt actively mind it either.
Checked out a new place this morning. Not our cup of chai, so to speak. Bad coffee, Bad selection of items, meh food.
I used to be a regular Yelper but I never liked how Yelp became a paid echo chamber of dark user bitching about how the business owners incompetent staff didnt treat the yelper writing the review like royalty.
After 8 years as Elite I stopped Yelping.
Why? Mostly, I think bad reviews do a disservice to the business but also I dont believe most business owners paid any attention to anything intended for critical improvement. Plus, I dont like being nasty.
I bring this up because this mornings breakfast was one of the few places I might, of old, have left a negative review. But as I say. I dont do that anymore…
